This tour in Ghana focuses on the coastal forts, castles and dark colonial past during the tragic slave trade era.
The area now known as Ghana has a rich history of great kingdoms, tragic human misery and colonial oppression. Modern Ghana was the first country in Africa to achieve independence, was a leader in the Pan-Africa movement, and has blossomed into today's safe and stable democracy. Most historians agree that at least 12 million slaves were forcibly departed from Africa between the 15th and 19th century, with about a 15% death rate on slave ships. Besides the slaves who died on the Middle Passage itself, even more slaves probably died in the slave raids in Africa. The death toll from four centuries of the Atlantic slave trade is estimated at 10 million, with an estimated 6 million of these killed by other blacks in African tribal wars and raiding parties aimed at securing slaves.
Various sites have been maintained or developed for remembering this brutal history. Those nearer to the coast maintain the history of outsiders, as seen at our numerous Forts and Castles, while a couple near coastal sites were transition points between slave raiders of the north and the markets and shipment points on the coast. This tour takes you to Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle and AsinManso Slave Market

SUN,SEA AND FUN
BEACHES
SUN,SEA AND FUN
BEACHES
Ghana faces the Atlantic Ocean and is blessed with some of the world's most untouched beaches. Some are nicely maintained and are certainly among the most beautiful you will ever see. Most are places of work for fishermen who are happy to share the surf and sand with visitors.
WATERFALLS
There are scenic waterfalls to be found all around Ghana. Some are well known and visited by many. Others are known only to local villagers and may have been visited by very few outsiders. The hikes to many of the waterfalls can be as exciting as the destination itself. There can be forests to walk through, hills to climb or perhaps treacherous trails at some remote waterfalls.
WILDLIFE & PROTECTED AREAS
Managed by the Ghana Wildlife Division, our wildlife protected areas are divided into 7 National parks, 6 resource reserves, 4 wildlife sanctuaries and 6 Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar sites). These combine to make for numerous opportunities to explore a diversity of environments, flora and fauna and among these Kakum National Park is the most visited park in Ghana
